About the Gardens
The Gardens comprise 2.5 hectares (5 acres) containing over 250 trees, many of special interest, alongside shrubs and formal and mixed flower beds of great variety, all lovingly maintained.

There is the wild garden (look for the many birds and squirrels), the round pool with its water lilies, fish and lovely bridge, the shaded laurel walk and the peaceful paved seating area. For younger guests, the park has a large playground and babychange facilities, and the coffee shop provides a children's menu and cosy seating.

Opened by Dr David Bellamy in 1986, The John Ray Garden was inspired by the 300th anniversary of the publication by John Ray, 'The Father of English Botany', of 'The History of Plants'.

Please join the Friends of the Gardens or make a donation to preserve the park for the enjoyment of the public.
